Overview

We had the opportunity to collaborate with Mattel in the automotive space. I was tasked to create the initial Barbie Adult Style along with an innovative sustainable packaging.

Roles: Visual Designer Lead

Team: Product managers, design director, packaging engineer, Mattel Team

Duration: 6 months

Challenge

Note: I left this team before the design was implemented. There is however other published barbie products I designed or contributed below.

How can we excite a young adult to purchase a barbie automotive accessory?

Goals::

-Appeal to an adult target market with a sustainable/reusable packaging.

-Deliver an initial adult design style to Mattel because there current style guides are for a younger target audience.

Constraint:

-After the initial phase of concepts, we realized the price point of the product would not fit the cost of the pe container. Because of this, I adapted to move forward with a high quality cardboard box container as seen in the pictures below.
